BECOME
A SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH DISABILTIES
SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – Every summer, The Arc of San Diego puts together their
Camp-A-Lot & Camp-A-Little programs. These are traditional summer “live-in”
resident camps designed for children and adults with developmental disabilities
that are held in San Diego County. The camps offer everything from hiking to
campfire programs to dances and talent shows, but they can’t operate without
volunteers. The Arc of San Diego is currently looking for camp counselors for
their programs that go all summer. However, volunteers don’t
necessarily need to work the entire summer; one and two week commitments are
also available.
Openings for camp counselors are for individuals at least 18 years old with a
clean record and there are also limited positions available for counselor aides,
for those individuals who are between the ages of 15-17 years old. This is the
perfect opportunity for anyone who has ever thought about volunteering or
becoming a camp counselor. Room and board are also provided while at camp.
This year’s season starts July 7, 2009 with training and runs through August 20,
2009.
The Arc of San Diego is the largest service provider to people with disabilities
in San Diego and the State of California. Founded in 1951 by a determined
group of parents, The Arc of San Diego now serves children and adults with
disabilities at 22 locations throughout San Diego County.
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2009 summer camp season. Prior
to training & orientation, there is an application process that includes an
interview, background check, and fingerprinting. For more information on dates,
training or to set up an interview, please call (619) 685-1175 ext. 255 or
e-mail pals@arc-sd.com.
